Women volunteers working together to assemble care packages for families

Healing Through Partnership

A program that transforms pain into purpose — connecting women on their path to reintegration with families navigating the grief of gun violence.

Two Communities. One Shared Journey.

The Erika Robinson Foundation Corp believes that healing rarely happens in isolation. Our Healing Through Partnership program brings together two groups who have both been deeply affected by gun violence — the families left behind, and the women who have served time for gun-related offenses.

By partnering these women with the Grief Basket Program, we create a space where accountability meets compassion. The women gain firsthand insight into the human cost of gun violence, while families receive their baskets with the knowledge that someone is working to make things right.

How the Program Works

01

Recruitment & Orientation

Women recently released from prison after serving time for gun-related offenses are invited to join the program. They receive an orientation on the foundation's mission, the impact of gun violence on families, and the purpose behind every basket assembled.

02

Assembly & Preparation

Participants work alongside foundation staff and volunteers to carefully assemble each Comfort Grief Basket — selecting items, writing notes of encouragement, and packaging each basket with intention and care.

03

Delivery to Families

Participants help deliver the baskets directly to grieving families. This face-to-face connection is at the heart of the program — offering both parties a profound and humanizing experience that words alone cannot provide.

04

Reflection & Growth

After each delivery, participants take part in guided reflection sessions. These conversations help them process what they witnessed, deepen their understanding of the ripple effects of violence, and chart a positive path forward.

Why This Approach Matters

Gun violence leaves no one untouched. Families lose loved ones. Communities fracture. And those who contributed to that violence often carry their own unprocessed trauma. The Healing Through Partnership program addresses all of these realities at once — offering restoration, not just punishment, and community, not just charity.

"When we allow people to witness the full weight of their actions — and then give them the chance to help repair the harm — we create the conditions for real, lasting change."
